I asked a friend at Xerox about this.  Here's his response:

"The Phaser 7400DN is a PostScript printer, so it's completely
supported by every distro that includes CUPS.  All you need is the
"Postscript Printer Definition" (PPD) file, a text file that describes
paper sizes, trays, etc.  There's a bundle of PPD files (and other
stuff) on the Xerox support site at
