Is this ifconfig from the wireless or the wired?  What is it with the
wireless?
The output of iwconfig indicates to me that your wireless card is working
just fine, otherwise how would it know the ESSID of your access point.  The
next step in the process is actually associating with that access point.
Ifconfig will reveal whether or not that worked.
