Well ... I *think* x11vnc works on Gentoo AMD64. It's kinda slow,
though. But you can log on to box A, start up a desktop, type "x11vnc
-usepw" and it will let you connect to that desktop from box B as
"xxx.yyy.zzz:0" with VNCViewer (or krdc, or ...).

That said, I usually just start up a VNC server or an NX server on one
machine and VNC viewer or KRDC or NX client to it ... I don't *have* to
go right to the main client. So far, NX seems to be a good bit snappier
than the other options.
