I also had Verizon EVDO from Nov 2005, even when it was only 1xRTT in
Portland, and just barely worked with the mac.

After being a loyal customer, paying first $80/month for the first 15 months
or so, and $60/month until February, they booted me off (with 15 day warning
and no room for appeal) uncerimoniously when I exceeded the then-unpublished
Double Super Sekret limit of 5GB in a given month. (I was in Buffalo for two
weeks, using 1xRTT to keep up to date on my few dozen podcasts. Nothing
special.)

So, I walked across the street to the Sprint store, signed up for their
$60/month *truly* unlimited plan, and couldn't be happier. For one, Sprint
has EVDO-A *everywhere*. Verizon is EVDO-A only in a few select cities, and
*might* finish EVDO-A by the end of the year. Oddly enough, Sprint customers
can *roam* to Verizon's towers free of charge, so it's not even a matter of
"coverage".

Ignore Verizon for being idiots, and losing my business. Sprint is the winner
here. Thank you Verizon for breaking my second 2-year contract 21 months
early, free of charge. :)
