Quentin,

   While I will go though such a convoluted process if needed, I don't
understand the USB port's shifting numbers, nor why this Palm OS device
doesn't work like the other Palm OS PDA we have: plug it in a USB port on
the laptop, find the port number (that host is running a 2.4 kernel, not a
2.6 kernel), and it Just Works.
