PLUG Advanced Topics Meeting
March 19th, 2007 at 7pm
Jax Bar
826 SW 2nd Avenue Portland, Oregon
Speaker: Randal Schwartz
Stonehenge Consulting
Topic: mod_perl
Abstract:
What do sites like amazon.com, Ticketmaster, Citysearch, Slashdot, Wired
News, and PBS Online have in common? They all run mod_perl behind the
scenes. So does the Internet Movie Database, and almost everything
ending in "perl.org", and probably a lot more that you've visited
recently. mod_perl embeds the number one scripting language (Perl) into
the number one web server (Apache) to provide far more than just a quick
content delivery system... You can control and enhance every aspect of
the web delivery, from deciding which page to serve to whom, down to
logging interesting and unusual things. Randal presents a brief
overview of mod_perl, including how to get it and what it can do for
you.
Happy Hour meal prices for the first hour.
