[PLUG] Serious Problem With GCC

   This has never before happened to me, and I'm thoroughly lost what to do.

   I tried building and installing a new version of a key library I use, but
it failed because gcc failed the tests in the configuration process.
Downloaded a new copy of gcc-3.4.6 (the Slackware-11.0 version) and
installed that. Still won't work. Tried building a newer version of another
library and that failed, too: error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status
1. /usr/bin/gcc is present.

   When trying to build the latest SQLite3 I see the attached config.log.
When trying to build/install the latest pysqlite2, there are a bunch of
errors that culminate in the gcc error shown above.

   This puts me in a bind and I need to get both the desktop and notebook
working today. Help, please.
