   Searching with Google for 'cpp fails sanity check' shows quite a few folks
with this issue over the past couple of years, and with a variety of
distributions. A couple of users (one with Madriva the other with Slackware
-- I think -- solved the problem by making soft links in /usr/bin/ to the
file cc1 and/or cc1plus. That did not work for me.

   The kernel source is in /usr/src/linux-2.6.19.2 and /usr/src/linux is a
symlink to that directory.

   Does this help you more expert folks identify a potential solution?
