This would not be a presentation. Workshops are hands on, and will
require a site for people to bring their computers and work on them,
not just watch. Free Geek would be fine, but we will not be there
to solve random problems like we do at the clinics, and there will
even be prerequisites ("read this, do that") because time at the
workshop is limited. Also, the workshops are likely to repeat
regularly, as new people appear and we learn more.
I can imagine three workshop subjects, each repeated twice a year:
dirvish backups, configuring inbound VPN, and establishing a web
of trust. If individuals have their machines properly set up for
backups and communication, and can trust specific other people on
their machines, then we can do many other things remotely, and set
up "virtual" clinics and workshops for other problems.
The regular clinic is fine for general debugging and installing
distros and such. We can even use it for "workshop prep" for the
folks having trouble meeting the prerequisites. But the clinic
is too chaotic and unstructured to lead a whole group through a
specific subject.
