Alex,

   Well, why not do what I did when I re-wrote our web site several years
ago? Search with Google for web site templates, find one he likes, download
the .css files and salt to taste.

   Looking at the examples is the quickest and best way to see what's
possible. I actually combined two samples into the design I wanted, but he
may find someting exactly to his liking.

   The nice thing about this approach is the speed with which the site can be
created and tweaked. No need to start from scratch. Also, the two Eric Meyer
books on CSS were -- and continue to be -- exceptionally helpful for
designing menus, creating a printer version .css, and other useful ideas.
