You might try Midori.  It's a nice looking browser, and does do tabs.
I just tried it alongside Firefox, and Midori wins the
low-memory-footprint contest hands down, with Firefox weighing in at
69.4MB and Midori at 22.1MB.  (Measured with the Gnome System Monitor
running on Fedora 10.)
