The old Netscape is the bloatware AOL version of the old Mozilla Suite, 
not the other way around. The Suite/Seamonkey have a smaller memory 
footprint with mail and the browser open with several tabs than FF alone 
with a few tabs of the same sites open.

I would suggest making sure there aren't a bunch of plugins installed, 
as that is the primary reason for FF weirdness. Or try Opera.
