That is the "any-any" update that I mentioned previously. Thanks for finding
the link, I was in abit of a hurry and my first shot with Google failed me.
It's not just for 64-bit issues, it generally fixes a number of kernel
quirks which may cause the vmware modules to not compile correctly. It has
become something of a silver bullet in the vmware community. I haven't dug
into it myself, nor have I seen a good explanation of what it does, but it
just about always seems to work...
