The Matrox people used to be real good about supporting their products. 
They used to be this good for Open Source as well.  (I helped debug a
bunch of Matrox drivers years ago.)  Since then they have gotten less open
and less helpful.  (They seem to want to "preserve their IP" except that
ATI and nVIDIA passed them years ago.)
