I've done it with the 300GB drives in my main server. Rather than look
up how many DOS/BIOS logical partitions I could have in an extended
partition, I just used 4 primary partitions: 100M for the /boot mirror
and 3 PV mirrors divided kinda evenly from the remaining space.
