Kurt,

   When you initiate the installation of a linux distribution, all (most?)
first ask you how you want the available drive space partitioned. You can
also use fdisk/cfdisk to see what's there, and change it if desired.

   Of course, any time you repartition (unless you use a tool like
PartitionMagic), data are wiped out.
