[PLUG] OpenMoko experiences?

Has anyone here used the Open Moko Freerunner?  I'm in the market for
a new phone, and I'm trying to decide between the Freerunner and the
T-Mobile G1 (the android phone) -- "Openness" is pretty important to
me, but so is stability and practicality.

Anyhow, Rich's question about smart phones hit pretty close to home,
;) although my requirements are much less pda-centric.  I've made due
so far with nothing more complex than a razr, with very little
browsing so jumping to something like the freerunner / G1 will be a
pretty big change.  (and no, I will not consider an iphone.  I've been
burned by Apple's DRM enough, thanks.)

I guess my question boils down to this:

Are the Free phones mentioned above ready for general use, and/or are
there others that I should consider?
