I concur with the /etc/resolv.conf possibility.
More than likely, when you connected by DHCP, the DHCP server gave your
machine a new resolv.conf file, and when you get home that doesn't work
anymore.  I have run into this, and for laptops that move between networks I
usually keep a backup of my resolv.conf for when I go back home to my static
IP setup.
