[PLUG] XSane and a scanner on network server

Can anyone offer some ideas on how to get XSane on my workstation to
find (and use) the saned daemon (xinetd) on the server?

I've got saned up and running and can connect using telnet but xsane
searches for devices doesn't find one and only offers pseudo-help and
a "Close" option.

The scanner worked when it was connected directly to the workstation. 
Now I want to off load the scanning my wife wants done back to her and 
the WinXP system she uses but still be able to scan from my system.

I had this working in the early-Fedora days.  Now it wants to be difficult!
