Ah, good, I suppose :)
My gut feeling is still that you have some unstable X composition
manager running that is occasionally just going to crash, and likely
suck up your memory / processor. I strongly suggest disabling
anything like that. ('ps -ef' or 'ps auxww' should be helpful in
tracking down such a beast.)
