[PLUG] USB Wifi adapters for 64 bit Linux?

I have my sister's laptop back for finishing off. Got Realplayer,
a few media players, firewall, VMWare, etc. all working with
Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy.

After spending many hours trying to get a Realtek 8187B working
with Ubuntu 8.04 64bit and the default NetworkManager, I gave up
and decided to buy a USB wifi adapter instead. That way, I can
test it out on my laptop before giving it to her.

The other interfaces on her laptop are Mini PCI Express and Express
Card, both of which have few chipsets with native Linux drivers, and
neither of which I can test on anything but her laptop. I want to
avoid ndiswrapper if I can.

So, comes the question. There are quite a few older USB Wifi
adapters out there that are known compatable with Linux, but few
reviews of what is in the stores right now. I ordered a Trendnet
TEW-424UB 54M G card from Newegg ($10 after rebate) which appears
to work with the zd1211rw driver according to:
   http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Devices/USB
But of course, the manufacturers like to change the chips without
changing the device model number. I may be out of luck.

So who has experience with USB Wifi adapters, and has bought one
very recently and got it working with native 64 bit drivers?

Keith
