I know that CentOS is designed to be a server distro, but I figure since
I tend not to update very often that it will be better to use CentOS
than Fedora. Sadly, the graphics aren't catching up and who knows when
the next version of CentOS will be released. I have the following
sources which I compiled to install under /opt2 as the prefix. How do
I use them? Do I have to install over the top of the older Mesa?

[michael at eagle new_mesa]$ ls
dri2proto-1.99.3.tar libpthread-stubs-0.1.tar schedtool-1.3.0.tar
libdrm-2.4.9.tar MesaLib-7.4.1.tar

[michael at eagle opt2]$ cat /etc/ld.so.conf
include ld.so.conf.d/*.conf
/usr/lib
/opt2/lib
