I'm starting to think more along the lines of a Stirling engine that
takes advantage of heat differences between an attic and the outside
during the summer to create motion that I can use to generate
electricity (in theory anyways).

Truth be told, we should probably all be running micro nukes. A 22
kw nuclear plant is bound to be pretty darn small ;-)

I'm in the shadow of Rocky Point, so I'm concerned that a wind
generator may not be such a good idea even though wind mills are
a lot cheaper than solar panels.

Another approach that would be interesting is to have a hydrogen
fuel cell and a solar to hydrogen panel, but this technology isn't
commercialized yet and who knows what it will cost when it is.

If only Honda's home energy station IV that produces hydrogen and
electricity were affordable. I'm at a place that has natural gas.
