[PLUG] disk problem

I got a sudden Firefox crash, after which most attempts at anything generated 
the message:

Conf file "/home/xxxx/.kde/share/config/konsolerc" not writeable
           "/home/xxxx/.kde/share/config/kdeglobals" not writeable
Contact your system administrator.

dmsg shows Ext-3 fs error (stb1); remounting file system read only

I finally ran fsck, (not really understanding what I was doing);I told it to 
repair the damage. "Inodes that were part of a corrupted orphan linked list 
found".  Other errors involved Block map and Block count differences.

I am back up with everything appearing normal.

The drive shows one locked folder (lost+found), but it has a modified date of 
19June2008. I have been unable to look inside.

Is lost+found where the error/recovery resides?
Is this a warning that the drive may give up the ghost real soon now?
