[PLUG] Trouble with Asus Eee PC...

It has Xandros Linux on it where the window manager is decidedly
custom. I'm starting to get the hang of apt-get and I've gotten
vlc media player to play a DVD using an external DVD burner I
picked up today, but there seem to be many more problems to
solve. The firefox version on it is 2.0.0.14, which doesn't
support the media connectivity plugin. I bought crossover
linux and installed IE 6, but it installed it in a win98
bottle which won't support a decent release of windows media
player. Crossover is a pain to work with, it has to be
launched from the command line because of the custom window
manager's lack of support for custom shortcuts. I guess
the system is just plain old and not very upgradable.
I know that the solid state drive is only 20 gigs, but that
should be plenty of room for a more up to date Linux system.

I'm not sure what all the repositories are for debian, but I
seem to have added the standard suspects by adding a records
that points to the osu open source lab site. I couldn't find
libdvdcss2, so I finally cheated and downloaded it directly
opting to install it with dpkg instead of apt-get.

I wish I could add a shortcut to vlc media player to the window
manager. Uge!

Anyone else have experience with the Asus Eee 900 running Linux?

I seem to have the standard C and C++ tools installed for
programming, which surprisingly appear to be fairly current.
