Stick it in a large zip-lock bag and then into the fridge. There
should be no problem going down to 32 deg. F but NO colder.
Do NOT stick it in the freezer!!!

After an hour or two see how long it runs before it shuts down.

It doesn't take very long for the CPU to heat up if the fan isn't
working or the heatsink isn't attached properly. This might give it a
bit longer running start. If you can keep it running long enough to
get into the BIOS setup check the temperatures (if it has such a
thing).

I don't know Aspire from Adam so can't comment on specifics. I have an
older Toshiba Satellite that would run from between several minutes to
several hours before shutting off for no apparent reason. A BIOS
update fixed it.
