[PLUG] The Case of the Disappearing Modules

   This is part of the on-going heroic saga of upgrading our Toshiba Tecra
8000 from xubuntu-8.04 to xubuntu-9.04. The upgrade's complete, but it takes
this ol' workhorse a _lot_ longer to boot than it did with last year's
distribution. Much longer. But, that's for another day.

   What I don't understand is why the pcmcia wireless card modules (orinoco
and orinoco_cs) did not load after the machine was shut down and rebooted.
Seems to me that when modprobe is used to load modules, they remain in the
list to be loaded at the next boot. Do I need to add them to /etc/modules.d/
some place, too?
