[PLUG] Firefox Question

My desktop has been running firefox for years and I've upgraded whenever
Pat puts out a new version. The current version is 3.6.12. When I want to
clear the address box to enter a new URL I place the cursor in the box,
left-click, and press ^u. This has always worked. If I have the cursor in
the display window and press ^u I see the page source code.

My new laptop is also running firefox-3.6.12 (well, actually,
swiftfox-3.6.12 since this morning), but when I place the cursor in the
address box and press ^u I see the page source code rather than a cleared
widget.

Looking at about:config and the prefs.js files I cannot find the
difference. My Google searches have been equally unproductive. If anyone has
a clue how to get ^u to clear the address box on the laptop, please let me
know. I'm so used to doing this for years it's a hassle to have to backspace
over each character on that one host.
