Have you checked to see what values are set in about:config?

1. In the URL bar, type "about:config" and press enter.
2. Confirm that you will be careful.
3. In the filter bar, type "history" and press enter.
4. Look at the list for values like "browser.history_expire_days".
5. Break stuff?  :)
