[PLUG] How about this video card...

My system is in the same ballpark as yours, as far as processor and
ram. The processor is an AMD Geode NX 1750, and it has ~600 MB ram. It
handles mpeg off of a DVD without a hiccup and will also display XVID
compressed video fullscreen with no problems. I think that takes more
processing power than just MPEG, but I could be wrong. (I do watch
movies on my computer, as we don't own a TV. I also compress and back
up our DVD movies to XVID so that my young son can't destroy the
originals.)

I specifically have this system: http://www.fryssupport.net/gq3151.cfm

It handled both of these things fine with the stock on board video
chip, as well as the ATI card that I had in it, and now with the
NVIDIA card that I'm currently using. It does fine in either windows
or linux.

So I assume that there's something else going on with your system that
it won't handle it. When something like that happens to me it is
usually the start of a long troubleshooting process, so I'm not the
expert that could try diagnosing over the internet like this....

Good luck!
Erik
