This is why I said it depends on who you talk to. It's a political decision
rather than a technical one, so if one were to make enough noise, it should
be possible to overcome it.

Worst case: cancel service and start a new account, possibly with a
different name. They can't force the next person that moves into the same
house to use FiOS (not yet at least).

This all gets even more interesting when we consider that Verizon is selling
off half their FiOS customers to another company. I haven't heard for sure
whether Oregon is included; my guess is yes.
