Keith,

My incidental ressearch finds that the HP 14" screen has the same 1366x768
pixel resolution as the "wide" screens (e.g. 15.6"). I would probably need
+6 diopter reading glasses to read 2048x1536 pixels, even on a 15" screen.

The Acer 19" wide screen monitor I use on this workstation/monitor has a
resolution of 1440x900 and this works well for me. While I've not seen
1366x768 on a 14" monitor I suspect it will be visually similar to this
desktop system.

You are correct that I won't invest the time for hardware hacking on a
portable.

Rich
