Oops ... I just found this: "~/mail/sent-mail           Outgoing message 
archive (FCC)." ... so maybe I answered my own question?  If so, then I 
should guess the message is lost, but again ... I haven't used 
pine/alpine in a very long time, so what do I know (rhetorical question)?
