You should be able to use direct ip-to-ip dialing.  You need to set
this up in the configuration of the
ATA device.  If you point them to the asterisk server then your
dialing plan could have the simple
dial codes for all your rooms and even handle your remote ip to ip calling.

If you have your asterisk server register with your voip provider and
set a dial plan in the server
then you could use any phone to do ip-to-ip or out to the outside world.
