[PLUG] block a range of addresses with iptables

I need to block a range of IPs from my site.  I'm thinking that this is 
the command:

iptables -I INPUT -m iprange --src-range $FIRSTIP-$LASTIP -j DROP

but before I mess my system up really bad, I thought I would check with 
the group to see if I am
(a) right-on
(b) close
(c) not even in the ball park
