[PLUG] so-called "next generation" firewalls

Folks,

I keep reading about "Next generation" firewalls that filter different
Web services that go through standard Web ports, e.g. SonicWall,
PaloAlto, etc. These are firewalls that enable fine-grained blocking of
things like specific Facebook games, without blocking the rest of
Facebook, through port 80/443.

I can't find info on equivalent open source solutions, and was hoping
that someone here could point me to such resources, if they exist.
Ideally, it'd be something that could be configured on a regular Linux
gateway, and not some high price dedicated piece of hardware.

Thanks,
Mike
