When I killed X to log out the display on tty1 was garbled; it looks like ANSI characters and is not really readable. Does anyone have ideas what might cause this? Is there a way to clear the console other than by rebooting? Since tty2-6 are fine it's not a critical issue but one I've not before encountered. Rich
