[PLUG] fat 16 or 32?

I have a usb stick ready to load ubuntu 11.10 onto a netbook.  Some
comments on the web indicate that the install only works with fat 16 format
on the stick.  That may be old information, but in case of trouble I would
like to know the format of the stick I have.  How do I determine if it is
16 or 32?  It is an msdos file system according to the info displayed in
the file browser gui.
