Done. Didn't make any difference.

Under 100 Mb in use. Nothing obvious to trim.

I restarted T-Bird, but didn't log out and back in. Have just done that, 
and the progress bar has disappeared. Thanks for the tip. That seems bad 
form for a Linux tool, though.
