Glad to help.  Its for your issue that I still run a full xorg.conf like
in the "old" days.  That, and Slackware, of course ;-)

Also, forgot to mention /var/log/Xorg.0.log as checking that can often
tell you what modes are being "autodetected" as well as any warnings of
errors.
