Man pages might be described as the "CliffsNotes" version of
what I'm looking for.
"Three ladies make stew prior to guilt plagued murderer
vainly attempts to wash hands" may summarize "Macbeth".
But ;)

My immediate symptom, having installed two configurations of
Debian I wish to chose between them with a menu.

As a first step I attempted to modify the automatically
created lilo.conf to display the menu (admittedly it will
only have one entry to chose from at this point). I
uncommented the line containing "install=menu" and then ran
"lilo". It did not display a menu on the next boot. The menu
code code itself is functional as I can display the menu if
fast enough with the space-bar when LILO starts.

Another question lurking is what should be considered when
choosing to place LILO in MBR or the partition in which the
OS is being installed.
