[PLUG] Scope problem with Evolution Advanced Search

My trusty old SuSE desktop died about a week ago, so I replaced it with
a new laptop (OpenSuSE 13.1, KDE 4.x). In the process, I decided to get
with the 20th century and switch from using Alpine mail to Evolution.
Everything seems to work as expected, except:

When I use Advanced Search, the search scope is *always* restricted to
the currently-open mail folder, no matter what I set the scope drop-down
to.  Regular search will search across folders -- but only for Subject
and/or Address. Advanced Search will search for many more categories --
but only in the current folder.  This greatly limits its utility. 
Any suggestions as to what might be going wrong?
