Can you go into your settings and change to 1920x1080. Its not uncommon
for X.org and new kernel drivers to default to a basic VESA VGA mode if
something goes wrong on boot. Check
/var/log/Xorg.0.log
assuming X.org is installed as opposed to Mir.
