I must update. Having forever uninstalled Chromium,I decided to give
Chome a try. Google's Chrome website has a button to download and
install, but it failed. I just got a spinning icon for a long time and
finally gave up. However, I found instructions for using wget to
install it, which downloaded and installed it in seconds.

And now I must apologize to Google. Chrome does not exhibit the evil
behavior that Chromium did; it did not install itself in the autostart
entries, nor does it do so when launched. My complaint should have been
addressed to the Chromium developers, or perhaps to Ubuntu, since I
installed it from the 13.10 repos.
