While editing a long email in mutt, I apparently garbled the subject line. When I sent it, Mutt asked me No subject, abort sending?([yes]/no): Typing "y" did not bring me back to edit mode; it deleted the email instead. And no, there's no copy in /tmp either. Arrghhh.
