   I had a nice Samsung or Hitachi LCD monitor (don't recall which) that I
turned off every night (the server is left on). One day it did not turn on
in the morning. Don't know if it was the power surge when turned on or some
other issue. Anywho, since I bought the replacement monitor I leave it on
all the time, too, and let the screen blanker do its thing.

   Don't know if this is applicable to your situation but I've learned to
leave desktop/server units and their accessories powered on all the time.
