I misread that last line a number of times.
I spent several hours trying to read up on runlevels today.
Mangling my college math of >50 yrs past, the vector space of my 
goals is not spanned by run levels. A permutation of runlevels, 
user permissions, and group permissions might span the space but 
would not be orthogonal.
