Those designations tell you what that particular statistic is good for.
OLD_AGE means if the value is approaching the threshold the drive is
reaching its rated lifetime.  PRE_FAIL means that if the value
approaches the threshold there could be an imminent failure.

The most important ones are

197 Current_Pending_Sector
198 Offline_Uncorrectable

both of which are zero (raw value).
