   I'm on my way to fixing this problem. The pgsql driver was not loaded
because the default slackware php does not include postgres support.
SlackBuilds.org has a nifty tool called php-pgsql which I built, installed,
and activated by uncommenting /etc/php.d/pgsql.ini/extension=pgsql.so.

   Still cannot connect to the database, but I'm getting closer.
