[PLUG] Optical drive driving me crazy

I finally got to a point this morning when I could reboot. After doing
so everything is back to normal - after closing the drive door with
media in it the media appears, although not mounted, and dmesg no
longer ends in the dreaded "inode busy"  message.

While rebooting solves the problem, all my searching on the net failed
to produce a way to solve the problem without rebooting.
